I’m constantly arranging timelines of color, studying each unique personality.
I find color by foraging rocks for pigment. With a careful eye and a good amount of curiosity, you can pick out gems in a field of rocks.
This curiosity has inspired me to explore different areas in my home state WA, and abroad in other states and countries.
I find a lot of similar tones across lands; varying shades of brown, yellows, ochres, siennas, clays.
After I collect a complete palette, my studio becomes a color laboratory!
Earth from all different areas come together in my palette.
Each rock is lovingly processed into watercolor paint by hand.
and every rock expresses itself differently!
In my paintings I synthesize the foraged palette with the manufactured, placing the intense saturated tones alongside the rough unrefined ones.
I weave layers of color into multi-dimensional spaces, generating new atmospheres.
